Dear Friends of Allanton
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we closed the doors here at Allanton on the 19th of March, initially for a period of 3 months until the end of June. We have since then, made the decision to cancel all events and residential bookings until the end of the year, 2020. We are still here however for peace pole orders and outdoor pre-arranged meetings. We are continuously reviewing the situation and how it applies to us here. We will be using this time to take advantage of breathing space to think freshly about the mission of Allanton, and how we can be of service in the ‘new’ world. We value your ongoing support and friendship, and we will keep in touch about future developments. Please let us know how you are, and stay in touch.

![May peace be in Tibet. May all living beings in Tibet have peace.
Since 1959, Tibet’s exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama has sought autonomy for Tibet, within the Chinese state, through non-violence and negotiation (BBC). May peace be with the Dalai Lama, all Tibetans worldwide, ‘Free-Tibet’ movement, in the Tibetan Autonomous Region, China, Himachal Pradesh, India and Nepal. “No country openly disputes China's claim to sovereignty [over Tibet]” (BBC). May peace be in the United Nations.
May peace be with China’s Western Development Programme, which is improving infrastructure but also increasing Han Chinese migration into ethnic regions, and undermining traditional cultures. Chinese development favours loyal inhabitants (BBC & The Conversation). May peace be with the 11th incarnation of the Panchen Lama, the Chinese choice: Gyancain Norbu and the Dalai Lama’s choice: Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, who, under Chinese “protective custody”, “disappeared from public life” in 1995 (The Telegraph & BBC). Infinite gratitude to Thomas Laird for documenting Tibet’s ancient Buddhist murals, many of which are difficult to access, view, or are poorly maintained and in danger of being lost (The Guardian). May peace be in the Tibetan plateau and Hindu Kush-Himalaya ice sheet, where glaciers are rapidly melting, due to climate change and pollution, and most will be gone by the end of this century. Summer ice melt is essential for drinking water, agriculture and energy production (The Guardian). May peace be in the rivers Ganges, Brahmaputra, Mekong, Indus, Yarlung Tsangpo, Yangtze, Yarkand and Yellow..., that originate here, and all countries downstream.
Infinite gratitude to the Chinese government for designating the Sanjiangyuan National Park (2016), a relatively intact ecosystem of free-ranging large ungulates and carnivores.
